Senior Spotlight: Gwenyth | GHS Class of 2025
There's something truly special about photographing seniors-it's that perfect blend of confidence, nostalgia, and anticipation for what's next. Every senior session feels like the closing of one chapter and the beginning of another, and Gwenyth's GHS graduation photos were the perfect reflection of that.
We met up at Stansbury Lake, one of my favorite spots for natural light and relaxed, candid photos. The water shimmered under the afternoon sun, the breeze was light, and the energy of the day felt calm but exciting-the way the end of senior year should feel.
Capturing a Milestone
Senior sessions aren't just about the photos-they're about pausing life for a second before everything changes. For Gwenyth, this shoot was all about celebrating years of hard work, late-night study sessions, school spirit, and the friendships that made high school so memorable.
We started with some fun, laid-back shots in the GHS sweatshirt-the perfect way to show off that school pride and capture that "just graduated" feeling. There's something timeless about wearing your school colors for your senior photos, it instantly tells your story and connects the photo to the memories behind it.
Then, we switched things up with a few casual portraits-nothing overly posed, just genuine smiles, laughter, and little candid moments that show Gwenyth's personality shining through.
The Story Behind the Shoot
One of my favorite things about this session was how naturally everything unfolded. We didn't rush through poses or chase perfection, instead, we focused on creating real, heartfelt images.
There was a quiet moment by the water where Gwenyth paused with the Playbill-a nod to her love of theater and creativity. It instantly became one of my favorite shots from the day. Those are the little details that make senior sessions so personal. Whether it's a prop that represents a hobby or a favorite outfit, those pieces tell your story in a way that words never could.
And then there was Gwenyth's sweet dog-because of course, your furry friend deserves to be part of your big day, too! That moment was full of laughter and love. and it perfectly captured the warmth and personality that made this session such a joy to photography.
Golden Hour Magic
We planned the session for golden hour, my favorite time of day to shoot outdoors. There's something about that warm light that wraps everything in a soft, glowing tone-especially by the lake. It brings out the natural colors in the background while keeping skin tones soft and flattering.
As the sun began to dip lower, the light turned golden and dreamy. It reflected off the water, adding a subtle sparkle behind Gwenyth and creating the perfect natural backdrop. Those moments-where the light, location, and energy all line up just right-are the kind that make me fall in love with photography all over again.
Outfits and Personality
Gwenyth chose outfits that felt true to self- simple, classic, and full of personality. From the bright red GHS hoodie to the crisp white shirt and Jeans, each look told a different part of the story.
For senior photos, I always recommend bringing 2-3 outfits:
*One that shows school pride or a uniform/activity you love
*One casual and comfortable outfit that feels authentically you
*One slightly dressed-up to look for timeless portraits
The key is balance- you want to remember who you were in this moment but also create images you'll still love years from now.
My Favorite Moments
It's hard to pick just one passions moment from this shoot. but there's something about that image with the playbill that captures everything I love about senior photography. It's confident, creative, and personal-a little glimpse into Gwenyth's personality and the passions that will follow after graduation.
I also love how relaxed and happy the session felt overall. There were no stiff smiles or forced poses-just genuine laughter, easy conversation, and a sense of excitement, about what's next. That's what senior sessions should be all about.
